Natural Beeswax Food Wrap

Natural food wrap is not only sustainable but also economical when you make your own. Use them as bowl covers, sandwich, and bread wraps. They can easily replace plastic wrap and aluminum foil. It takes only a few ingredients that can easily be found on Amazon or the local health food store. Minimizing the waste you throw out is one benefit of making these but chemicals in plastic wrap and aluminum foil can be hazardous to your health with repeat exposure.

NATURAL BEESWAX FOOD WRAP

  • Organic beeswax pastilles

  • Pine Gum Resin

  • Jojoba oil

  • Vitamin e

  • An old tray

  • Plastic spoon for stirring

  • Deep aluminum pan for dipping

  • Pieces of cotton fabric cut to size

I DO A 4:1 RATIO OF BEESWAX TO PINE RESIN. IF THE WRAPS ARE NOT STICKY ENOUGH THEN ADD MORE RESIN FOR THE NEXT WRAP YOU DIP.

  • 1 cup beeswax

  • ¼ cup pine resin

  • 1 - 2 tsp jojoba oil

  • 1 tsp vitamin e

Instructions

  • Place the pan in the oven at 200 degrees until melted. Check often. These materials are flammable if heat is too high.

  • When melted, dip the fabric into the mixture. Let drip off into the pan. The wraps will firm up quickly.

  • If the wax becomes too thick in one area, place it on the baking tray and put in the oven to warm and spread evenly.

  • Wrap up your sandwiches, use as bowl covers, wrap bread and cheese. Stay away from wrapping meat. Wash in warm soapy water and air dry.
